RMS MetaModeler

Your Own View of Risk

In the RMS MetaModeler, you'll build and control your view of risk. For the first time, you can utilize one platform to validate the applicability of models to the business you write, and take control of modeled and non-modeled risk components to make informed decisions tailored to your portfolio and business strategy. Test and modify RMS model assumptions, data, and components, create your own deterministic models, import non-RMS results, run non-RMS models, and blend model output from RMS and other sources. All model output can be flexibly combined into a comprehensive view of catastrophe and non-catastrophe risk.

RMS Reference Models

RMS models will always include the RMS Reference View, which represents our best view of the risk for all modeled peril regions. Reference Views are based on the latest scientific understanding of hazard and risk, engineering principles and observations, decades of catastrophe modeling experience, and expert judgment.

RMS Adjusted Models

Adjust RMS model data and components—or replace them with your own to generate model results that reflect your own research, experience, claims, and underwriting practices. The MetaModeler offers a range of customization options to own your view of risk, including: event rates, hazard values, vulnerability curve relationships, mean damage ratios, and ground-up and gross losses.

Imported Results

Roll up, blend, compare, and drill into results from a variety of sources: RMS models run in RiskLink or in a broker's or cedant's RMS(one) environment, non-RMS model losses, deterministic and statistical models, or simple factors.

Non-RMS Models

Models developed by other modeling companies or built in-house operate in the RMS(one) environment. Create a holistic, consistent view of risk derived from the sources you choose, and reduce the need to manage and maintain multiple model environments.

The Brains Behind the Operation

The RMS AoS (analytic operating system) is the exclusive collection of new RMS tools, technologies, and infrastructure that enables the flexibility, performance, and interactivity of the RMS(one) environment.

  • An Insurance Domain Model (IDM) for insurance and reinsurance, relieving the static schematic restrictions that exist in the current RMS EDM and RDM market currency
  • A contract definition language (CDL) for representing and managing complex contracts, relationships between terms, and non-catastrophe as well as catastrophe risks
  • A high-definition simulation engine for more accurate catastrophe risk modeling
  • A Risk Query Language (RQL) through which you can connect legacy, SQL-based systems to RMS(one), and conduct specialized data interrogation through structured, syntax-based queries

The heart of all analytical processes, the Zip Engine optimizes cloud resources, system memory, and results storage to maximize RMS(one) performance, attaining the speed and power to collapse processing times from days to minutes.

RMS Cloud

The Foundation

RMS(one) lives in the RMS Cloud, the purpose-built, dedicated infrastructure of the RMS(one) environment. Secure, scalable, and elastic, the RMS Cloud features high-performance computing, persistent storage resources, and 24x365 management. Deployed and operated within interconnected and hardened data centers in strategic locations throughout the world, the RMS Cloud enables low-latency data communications and is fully compliant with global data privacy regulations and directives.

A dedicated disaster recovery site, geographically separate from the production data centers, ensures resilience. The site replicates the production resources within each data center, acting as a stand-in to maintain business continuity if a production data center experiences an extended outage. The RMS Cloud scales to support increasing demand by adding processing and storage nodes within RMS data centers and by bringing additional data centers online around the globe.
