Managing Terrorism Risk in 2008 and Beyond, Millennium Broadway Hotel, New York
RMS hosted a half-day seminar in New York on Wednesday,
July 25 entitled "Managing Terrorism Risk in 2008 and Beyond."
This half-day event brought together the world's leading
terrorism experts to discuss how the global terrorism threat has
evolved and the likely impact on the insurance industry. The seminar
included presentations on topics related to terrorism risk,
insurance, and public policy.

Version 7.0
Launch Seminars, London & Zurich RMS held two
local half-day seminars, "Providing a Complete View of Portfolio
Risk." The first was held in London on Friday, June 8, at Lloyds
Old Library, and the second in Zurich on Monday, June 11, at the Widder Hotel. Each half day seminar explored the new features of
the version 7.0 release, including applicability to data management,
underwriting and portfolio modeling, and management work flow.

China Earthquake Model
Launch Seminars
In spring 2007, RMS released the first probabilistic earthquake
model for China. Detailed information on the new model was
presented to the China market at two half-day seminars on March 21
in at the Westin Financial Street Hotel in Beijing, and on March 23 at
the Jiang Hotel in Shanghai.

2006 RMS Hurricane 'Eyewall Symposium'
RMS hosted the first annual Hurricane 'Eyewall
Symposium,' featuring technical presentations from many of the
world's leading scientists on their research into climate and the
impact on hurricane frequency and severity. This one-day scientific
symposium included presentations on several key topics related
to hurricanes and the current state of academic research, including
hurricane formation and environmental influences on intensity,
seasonal hurricane forecasting, the impact of climate on hurricanes,
and the role the Atlantic Multi-decadal Oscillation on hurricane
frequency. The symposium was held in New York City on Thursday,
October 12 at the landmark Hudson Theatre of the Millennium Broadway
Hotel.

Monte-Carlo Rendezvous in
September, Monte
Carlo As part of the 50th anniversary of Rendez-Vous de
Septembre, a reinsurance conference held every year in Monte Carlo,
RMS and the Whitfield Group Ltd. co-hosted the Bermuda
Reception. The Bermuda Reception has been a feature of the Rendez-Vous for the past 26 years, attracting over 800 of the
industry’s major players to this cocktail reception hosted by the
Bermuda insurance industry for their clients and guests.

RMS Introduces China Earthquake model in Bejing RMS ran a workshop
(largely in Chinese) led by Dr. Weimin Dong, Dr. Chris Mortgat, Dr.
Zifa Wang (of IEM), and Dr. Robert Muir-Wood, at the offices of the
Chinese Insurance Regulatory Commission in Beijing, for fifty
invitees across the whole Chinese insurance, reinsurance and broking
communities with sessions on: the forthcoming RMS China earthquake
model, the importance and role of high quality data in catastrophe
loss modeling, portfolio management and portfolio optimization,
securitization and the lessons of hurricane Katrina.

RMS User Training
Conference, Bermuda
RMS held a free user training on July 27-28 at the Fairmont
Hamilton Princess in Hamilton, Bermuda. The training conference
provided users with tips and tricks on using new fields and
functionality associated with version 6.0 updates to U.S. and
Caribbean hurricane, eastern U.S. and eastern Canada earthquake,
Europe windstorm, and more.

RMS Europe
Model Release Seminar, London Underwriting Centre, London
In addition to major upgrades to the RMS U.S. Hurricane and U.S. Earthquake models, RiskLink
and RiskBrowser 6.0 feature major enhancements to the RMS
Europe Windstorm and U.K. Storm Surge model, resulting in the
first comprehensive upgrade in which all components of the model
are being rebuilt since the model's original release. In Summer
2006, RMS will also release a river flood model for Germany
based on a Europe-wide stochastic rainfall event set,
supplementing existing RMS river flood models in the U.K and
Belgium. Details of the Europe model releases, and our
development agenda for the region were presented to the Europe
market in two half-day seminars on May 30 in Munich and June 2 in
London.

Managing the Risk of
Pandemic Influenza, Hotel Sofitel, New York
RMS hosted a free seminar to help the insurance market
understand and manage the risks posed by pandemic influenza. This
seminar was an opportunity to hear about recent scientific developments
and RMS' launch of the first probabilistic pandemic risk model. This
half day seminar was held in New York City in the Ballroom le
Grande Paris at the Sofitel New York on June 1, 2006 from 2:00-5:30
pm followed by a cocktail reception.

RMS Terrorism Seminar, Millennium Broadway Hotel, New York
For the fifth year, RMS hosted a client terrorism seminar
where we provided an opportunity to hear first hand from some of the
world's leading terrorism experts on how the threat of terrorism is
evolving and the likely impact on the insurance industry. This half
day seminar was held in New York City at the landmark Hudson
Theatre of the Millennium Broadway Hotel.

This year's RMS Client Conference was held May 9-12, 2006 at the
five-star, five diamond Broadmoor Hotel and Resort in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. Over 500 clients and industry representatives
attended the conference.

Conference, Zurich RMS hosted its annual European regional conference in
Zurich on October 3-5. The conference tracks and keynote
presentations were designed to increase the technical knowledge and
practical insights that are central to the application of RMS
products and services, with an emphasis on topics of particular
interest for clients who manage international books of business.

Can Risk Be Quantified?, London RMS sponsored "Can
Risk Be Quantified?" in London at the Royal Society. Speakers discussed the everyday risk decisions companies and governments make
in terms of strengths and weaknesses of analytical tools for risk
quantification, risk assessment in engineering design, pricing of
insurance, assessing risk for health and safety policy choices, and
operational risk assessment. This meeting addressed the more
fundamental questions of whether risk can be measured at all, and,
when numerical values are derived, what do they mean.

RMS Hurricane Katrina Seminar, London In place of the previously scheduled terrorism seminar taking place
on September 20, RMS hosted a short seminar in the Tower Room at
the London Underwriting Centre on Hurricane Katrina. The intent of
this seminar was to provide another chance to see some of the
material presented during the RMS online CAT Response presentations
made since Katrina’s landfall and to review the findings from the RMS reconnaissance team that surveyed the area. RMS is in the
process of absorbing and analyzing information learnt from the
event, and in particular what impact this will have on the RMS
models in the future. At this time it is too early to provide an
indication of any potential changes to the models, and this topic
will be covered during future discussions.

RMS Hurricane Katrina
Briefing, Monte-Carlo RMS hosted a briefing on Hurricane
Katrina for the attendees of the Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous. The
briefing gave an overview of the situation in the affected region
and provided detailed information on RMS’ analysis on elements
contributing to the overall insured loss from this catastrophe,
including the extensive flooding experienced in New Orleans.

The event was held at the landmark Hudson Theatre and focused on the
latest understanding of terrorism risk and the support available

Dr. Bruce Hoffman of RAND provided insight into the evolving
terrorism threat landscape.

The conference also featured a full breakout track dedicated to
modeling workers compensation coverages, including details on the

RMS Executive Retreat, St. Andrews, Scotland RMS held an
Executive Retreat for 20 terrorism model clients to improve the
collective understanding of the evolving nature of terrorism
risk, the future of insurance market response to these risks,
and RMS' research and development strategy. The event was
co-hosted by the University of St. Andrew's Centre for the Study
of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV), and was held in St.
Andrews, Scotland. Leading terrorism experts from CSTPV, RAND,
the Department of Homeland Security, TRIA, and international
intelligence agencies provided expert briefings.
Clients provided recommendations on areas to enhance existing
terrorism technology as well as their needs for international

Management, Washington D.C. The RAND Center for the Study of
Terrorism Risk Management was launched at a roundtable co-hosted by
RMS and RAND in RAND's Washington D.C. office. Thirty
representatives from leading insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries,
trade associations, TRIA, and the Treasury attended this event, that
featured briefings on terrorism risk and related issues from several
of RAND's top terrorism experts.
