For each of the countries covered by the Europe Windstorm model, RMS
has developed estimates of total insured values for windstorm utilizing
macroeconomic data, census demographics from each country, building
square footage, and representative policy terms and conditions. Values
are distributed to CRESTA zone level estimates using detailed
populated and business statistics. Separate buildings, contents, and time
element coverages are provided.
The exposure database is compiled for the following lines of business in
Europe:
Residential
Commercial
Industrial
Agricultural
Agricultural Glasshouses (Netherlands only)
Residential Cottages (Sweden only)
Europe Industry Loss Curves
The Europe Industry Loss Curves (ILC) contain modeled industry losses for
windstorm for each CRESTA in the nine countries covered by the Europe
Windstorm model. Losses have been output for the same lines of business
as the Industry Exposure Database (IED). These exceedance probability (EP) curves are
created using the RMS industry-wide property exposure databases and the
RMS RiskLink®-DLM catastrophe modeling software. The loss curves may be
used within the RiskLink software to determine the probability that Europe industry-wide losses will exceed user-defined dollar and/or event
thresholds for specific catastrophe perils.
